With over 360 tickets sold for the 2009 Show Jumper’s Ball there was a definite air of anticipation about it. The Facebook ‘walls’ were buzzing in the lead up. Thankfully any concerns faded like a blush on the night. It delivered and then some!

The 2009 Amateur Leagues are always hard fought and the North East region has maintained a consistent record in producing winners of these titles. This year was no exception. Stephen Pitt and the ever consistent Celissa won both the 90cm and 1M Amateur League tables and Anita Leadbitter and Another Springtime won the 70cm League. Congratulations to them.

Finally as this truly was an evening to celebrate the achievements of our members it was decided that two members who have not only proved to be fantastic ambassadors for our sport and have shown maturity beyond their years should also be recognised.

Pippa Allen and Dan Thompson have now both reached senior ranks. Most of us have followed their progress through the junior classes and witnessed them achieve great things for the North East region and for their country too. In Pippa’s case with 2 European Gold Medals. An achievement which this region hasn’t witnessed previously.

The BSJA North East Area Committee took the opportunity to acknowledge their fantastic achievements and wish them continued success in senior competition.
