Angie Mills & Cash

Discovery 2nd Rd @ Ingliston Aug 8th

22 Starters, therefore only 1 to qualify.  Mark McGowan was course builder, built his usual up to height, technical track.  6 clears went into 1st jump off, 4 clears threw to final jump off. Very quick standard was set from 1st to go, Ian Warnock & McKenzie II, didn't think it was beatable, managed to get a quick approach & 45deg angle over 2nd fence, giving us opportunity to cut inside fence behind, came home 1.5 seconds quicker. Really pleased, as Cash had unlucky season, at Area 15 an inside stud punctured his opposite foots coronet & into laminae, resulting in infection and major inflammation/bruising, after 3wks box rest and lots of TLC got him back in work, giving us 3 weekends before this qualifier, thus not back up to full fitness.  Discovery final @Scope Sept 3rd, keep ya fingers crossed.

'Millie Allen Wins Team Gold And Individual Silver'

GREAT BRITAIN WIN TEAM GOLD AGAIN

Thursday 15 July 2010

Great Britain’s Children fail to disappoint as they are bringing home Team Gold from the European Championships for the fourth year running.   The 2010 Championships are taking place in Jardy, France near Paris where our Children’s team, aged 14 years and under have given an outstanding performance showing once again the incredible talent we have coming up through our sport.

With three of our team of four giving foot-perfect clears in the first round and only one team member having an unfortunate four faults we were already lying in equal first with six other teams who were all on zero (the three best scores count with the fourth being a drop score).

Prior to the fourteen teams coming forward to contest the second round in which Great Britain were drawn seventh to go, the fifth team members rode for their individual scores. It was thirteen year old Charlotte Smet riding Louise Morley’s 10 year old liver Chestnut gelding Maneken du Coty who as fifth man showed the team what needed to by producing a superb clear.

First to go for Great Britain in the teams second round was 14 year old Katie Robertson from Cupar, Fife with Lynne Robertsons 9 year bay gelding Cameron Poe, followed by 13 year old Christie Pritchard from Holyhead with Allen Tredwell’s nine year old grey mare Larkspur. With both Katie and Christie producing text book clear rounds. 14 year old Jake Saywell from Newark knew that if he produced a clear round with Ann Gascoine’s 9 year old grey gelding Cornelius 27 there was a very good chance that Great Britain would secure Gold. Producing exactly this, and as other teams faulted after us we were in a position of knowing we had won the Gold even before our fourth team member 13 year old Millie Allen from Stockton-On-Tee’s had jumped.

With scores from both rounds counting towards qualifying for the Individual Championships, Millie jumped, proved her worth and the depth of talent within Great Britain by producing another clear with Rachel Steel’s 10 year old bay mare Trueleva.

Michael Mac, Chairman for British Showjumping commented from Jardy “All five children jumped absolutely fantastically and are a real credit to Great Britain. Keeping their nerve whilst other’s fell apart the children were mature beyond their years and I feel extremely fortunate to be here with them today and proud of the sport in which we are all involved and feel so passionate about”.

Corinne Bracken, Chef d’equipe and Team Coach further commented “The four riders in the team today were outstanding, the course was much bigger in the second round and where the other teams failed to jump clears, ours just rose to the occasion. Before the second round of the teams had started, our fifth rider Charlotte Smet, showed us exactly what to do within the new time allowed which was ten seconds less than the first round. I’m incredibly proud of the team here today and would like to give a special thanks to the fantastic support crowd that we have at this Championship”.

With all five of the British Children qualifying for the Individual Final, which takes place on Saturday afternoon, Great Britain look in a strong position going forward.

The first of the Junior Team Competitions will take place later on today with the Team Final on Friday 16th. The Individual Final will commence on Sunday 18th July.

The Young Rider Team Competition will take place tomorrow (Friday 16th) with their Individual Final taking place on Sunday 18th July.

MILLIE ALLEN AND TRUELEVA BRING HOME INDIVIDUAL SILVER FOR GREAT BRITAIN

Sunday 18 July 2010

MILLIE ALLEN AND TRUELEVA BRING HOME INDIVIDUAL SILVER FOR GREAT BRITAIN

Following on from their tremendous Team Gold win at the Children’s European Championships in Jardy (France), British Showjumping are thrilled to be announcing that thirteen year old Millie Allen from Stockton-On-Tee’s has, after a four-way jump off, also secured Great Britain an Individual Silver medal.

Riding Rachel Steel’s ten year old bay mare Trueleva, Millie and this super mare with whom she has such a great rapport produced two fantastic clear rounds in a time that was just one second  behind the French rider Tressy Muhr with Lord Du Valy who took Gold.

With the Bronze medal being awarded to Germany’s Celine Schradick and Contento, Great Britain were only just out of securing another medal as it was Nottingham based Jake Saywell with Cornelius 27 who took fourth place followed by fellow teams mate Katie Robertson with Cameron Poe and Christie Pritchard with Larkspur who finished in joint fifth with six other riders.

Corinne Bracken, Chef d’equipe and Team Coach for the Children, Junior & Young Rider squads commented “Millie was absolutely brilliant today. She rode two perfect rounds keeping her nerve at all times whilst showing grit and determination. The Individual Final’s were incredibly hard fought and I’m incredibly proud of Millie and her achievements.   To also have another three members of the squad just outside the medal position is not only extremely rewarding but also illustrates the talent we have coming through from such a very young age within our sport. The atmosphere out here has been amazing with everyone pulling together from the riders representing the three squads we have competing across the various age groups through to the family, friends and support crew and I would just like to thank everybody for their assistance and enthusiasm”.
